Germany-Nigeria Film Week

Founded in Hanover in 2022, the Sonnenkindfilm association produces films and promotes a film culture that brings together transnational perspectives and experiences across generations. From 1 to 10 October, Sonnenkindfilm in collaboration with the Pan-African Film Consortium is presenting the Germany-Nigeria Film Week, which will take place in the cities of Hanover, Bremen and Hamburg and opens in Berlin on Independence Day. The guest is Ali Nuhu, director of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), who is well known in Nigeria as an actor and filmmaker. THE CHRONICLE OF AFROBEATS (2026) will be screened afterwards and is part of a documentary series by Grammy-nominated music manager Bankulli (Abisagboola Oluseun John). Through conversations with artists, producers and music managers, the series explores the people, sounds and defining moments that have shaped Afrobeat and its growing international influence. The event concludes with an episode of the famous 1980s TV series COCK CROW AT DAWN, which was discovered at the National Film and Sound Archive. (Stefanie Schulte Strathaus)
